OUR STORY
Unskilled Immigrants began in the most unexpected place: an apartment common room where a small group of us met for a standup workshop with nothing but a mic, a speaker, and a shared love for comedy. What started as a casual workshop quickly grew into something much bigger. We wanted more than stage time. We wanted a community. A place for desis in Seattle to be loud, funny, and fully themselves.
Unskilled Immigrants Comedy is a Washington State registered nonprofit. Our mission is to grow immigrant voices in standup, improv, and community shows. Every dollar goes back into building community events, supporting new performers, and strengthening local arts.
From those early sessions, Unskilled Immigrants grew into Seattle's desi-first comedy movement. We built a stage for standup comics, performers, and creators exploring formats like Unskilled Comicstaan, Unskilled Dating, crowd segments, and our Comedy Nights 3.0 shows.
Over the years, our comics have performed across Seattle and opened for some of the biggest names in Hindi standup. What began as a small experiment has evolved into a full comedy family with weekly shows, improv jams, open mics, unique formats, and community-driven entertainment.
Today, Unskilled Immigrants stands for one thing: a space where desi comedy lovers come together to share stories and bring a bit of magic into everyone's lives.
